Citroen C3 Aircross is a front-wheel drive crossover of a subcompact category, aimed primarily at a young audience for which design and wide possibilities of personalization of the car are important ...

The world presentation of the five-door took place on June 12, 2017 at an official event in France - formally, it changed the C3 Picasso compact van brand in the model range, but in fact it also has a "predecessor of the same name" - "Aircross" (which was presented exclusively in the South America).

The exterior of the Citroen C3 Aircross is made according to the ideas of the conceptual model "C-Aircross" (presented at the beginning of the same year at the Geneva Motor Show) - the car has a charming, spectacular and tightly knit appearance.

Stylish front end with "two-story" optics and raised bumper, dynamic silhouette with rounded-square wheel arches, expressive sidewalls and "floating" roof, lean rear with cool lights and a large trunk lid - the SUV looks attractive, standing out favorably against the background of many competitors.

In terms of dimensions, the Citroen C3 Aircross is a typical "player" of the subcompact class: 4150 mm in length, 1640 mm in height and 1760 mm in width. The center distance at the five-door extends to 2600 mm, and its ground clearance in the equipped form does not exceed 175 mm.

Inside the crossover, familiar motives from other modern Citroen models reign - in general, the interior looks beautiful and modern, and in addition to this it is different: verified ergonomics, high-quality assembly and well-chosen finishing materials.

On the center console there are rounded rectangles of air ducts, a large tablet of the multimedia complex and a stylish air conditioning unit, and a three-spoke steering wheel with a rim truncated from the bottom and a laconic "toolbox" extol a certain sportiness in the "apartments".

The interior of the Citroen C3 Aircross is five-seater: in front there are ergonomically profiled seats with a well-developed side profile and extensive adjustment intervals, and in the back there is a “friendly” molded sofa that can move 15 cm longitudinally.

With five passengers on board, the crossover can take from 410 to 520 liters of luggage (it all depends on the position of the "gallery"). When the second row of seats is removed, the free space reserve increases to 1280 liters (it can be increased even more due to the "cellar" by removing the raised floor), and the folding front passenger seat allows you to get a cargo area 2.4 meters long.

For the Citroen C3 Aircross, a set of two powertrains is provided, which are combined exclusively with a front-wheel drive transmission:

  • The basic one can be considered a 1.2-liter PureTech three-cylinder gasoline engine with a turbocharger, direct injection, 12 valves and variable valve timing, offered in three levels of "boost":
    • 82 h.p. at 5750 rpm and 118 N • m of torque at 2750 rpm;
    • 110 h.p. at 5750 rpm and 205 N • m maximum thrust at 1500 rpm;
    • 130 h.p. at 5500 rpm and 230 N • m of rotational potential at 1750 rpm.
  • The alternative is the 1.6-liter HDi turbocharged diesel engine with direct fuel injection and 16-valve timing, which is also announced in three versions:
    • 90 h.p. at 3750 rpm and 230 N • m of the generated torque at 1750 rpm;
    • 100 h.p. at 3750 rpm and 254 N • m available recoil at 1500 rpm;
    • 120 h.p. at 3500 rpm and 300 N • m of rotational potential at 1750 rpm.

All motors are installed together with a 6-speed "mechanics", and for a 110-horsepower unit, a 6-band "automatic" is offered for an extra charge.

The lack of all-wheel drive is partially compensated by the "Grip Control" technology, which allows changing the algorithms for the operation of the engine and traction control electronics, depending on driving conditions.

At the heart of the Citroen C3 Aircross is the PF1 front-wheel drive architecture with McPherson-type independent suspension at the front and a semi-independent roll beam system at the rear. High-strength steels are widely used in the construction of the car.

In the "base" SUV has a rack and pinion steering complex with adaptive electric power steering, as well as disc brakes "in a circle" (ventilated on the front wheels) with ABS, EBD and other modern bells and whistles.

On the Russian market, Citroen C3 Aircross is offered with three engines to choose from, in three equipment levels - "Live", "Feel" and "Shine". The cost of the SUV starts at 1,069,000 rubles - this is how much they ask for an 82-horsepower version in the basic configuration.

Normally, the five-door is equipped with: six airbags, ERA-GLONASS, ESP, ASR, two power windows, air conditioning, ABS, electric drive and heated exterior mirrors, 16-inch steel wheels, an audio system with six speakers and some other equipment.

For a modification with a diesel engine, you will have to pay from 1,177,000 rubles, the version with a 110-horsepower "turbo-engine" is estimated at 1,242,000 rubles, and the "most sophisticated" version cannot be bought for less than 1,317,000 rubles.

The "top version" of the car boasts: heated front seats, "climate", rear power windows, a multimedia complex with a 7-inch display, a navigator, light-alloy "rollers", rear parking sensors, electric heated windshield, "cruise" and other options.
