Once in the eighties, having created a successful subcompact city car, PSA does not hesitate to exploit its idea with might and main. In 2006, the "idea" was updated under the name Peugeot 207, then an extended version and a sedan model were created, and eventually a "charged" GT version.

However, this was not enough for the French specialists, because the 207th model occupied the top lines of the ratings from year to year and several times became the most popular car in France, Europe, and Japan. Having decided to "squeeze" the maximum out of this idea for the spring 2010 auto show in Geneva, the French announced an even hotter version of the Peugeot 207 RC.

But today, outwardly, a truly sporty version of the Peugeot 207 RC is not too different from the civilian model. All the same branded grille mouth, which appeared as a result of the facelift in 2009, the "beak" with a lion's nameplate and slanted headlights, the same taut silhouette and stern with a reverse bevel. And yet there is a difference in the details. The status of the "hot" version is underlined by the presence of a roof spoiler over the rear window of the third door, chrome-plated twin tailpipes of the exhaust system and large, wide 17-inch Pitlane alloy wheels. Another thing is interesting - the RC version is presented only in a three-door body, which is quite justified in terms of strength and lightness of the design.

In the interior of the Peugeot 207 RC, the differences with the conventional versions are incomparably greater. The driver and passenger are seated in sports bucket seats with pronounced lateral support. In front of the driver is an extremely simple three-spoke steering wheel, behind which the chrome wells of the dashboard are visible. The same silver edging encloses the deflectors and the multi-function touchscreen display, which is located on an island in the middle of the dashboard. The underfoot pedals also feature shiny pads. The small rear sofa is sculpturally divided into two seats, it is almost impossible for three adult passengers to sit on it, and there is not much space in the trunk. In addition to the front seats and the chrome package, the "Indy" combination seat upholstery with a combination of velvety Alcantara and dense leather is an exclusive interior detail.

The French automakers have managed to reduce the weight of the charged RC version by twenty-five kilograms compared to the GT. But, despite this, the complete set of the Peugeot 207 RC cannot be called poor. Even in the database, dual-zone climate control and high-quality acoustics are available. And for a surcharge, the hatchback can be equipped with a panoramic glass sunroof and a JBL music system with amplifier and subwoofer. Peugeot did not forget about safety, equipping the car with six airbags, tire pressure sensors and the largest in the class 302-mm ventilated disc brakes.

By the way, about the technical characteristics of the Peugeot 207 RC. Of all the variety of engines available for the civilian version, the "hot" hatchback got the only one, but the most powerful option. This petrol 1.6-liter turbocharged EP6DT engine is the fruit of close cooperation between PSA and BMW. This engine (which, by the way, is also equipped with the Mini Cooper S) has undergone a deep modernization - the designers changed the injection system, increased the turbine pressure and installed the Overboost system. Thanks to this integrated solution, the engine produces 175 horsepower, which is 25 "horses" more than the unit installed in the 207 GT. Also striking is the torque of 260 nomes, which is kept on the "shelf" of 3000 rpm. This engine, in combination with a manual five-speed gearbox, propels the car weighing 1,325 kilograms to a hundred in just 7.1 seconds. And in order for the little Peugeot 207 RC to feel the road with confidence, the engineers tweaked the suspension and steering more rigidly by adding the proprietary SSP (Steering Stability Program) stabilization system. It maintains trajectory even when the wheels are on different surfaces and eliminates front yaw during emergency braking.

In Russia, the most dynamic representative of this family of small cars - Peugeot 207 RC is offered at a price of 824 thousand rubles.
