The fourth generation of the Renault Megane compact hatchback "celebrated" its world premiere in September 2015 on the catwalks of the Frankfurt Motor Show, and at the beginning of 2016 its sales started in Europe.
The “Frenchman” has gone through significant changes compared to the previous model - it received a completely new design, “moved” to a new platform, became larger, and also replenished its arsenal with modern “chips”.
The "fourth" Renault Megane is sustained in the brand's new "family" design with bold and dynamic body lines, the hallmark of which is the originally designed front end - frowned optics with C-shaped branches of the running lights and a chrome-plated radiator grille shield.
But from other angles, the hatchback looks beautiful and solid - the embossed sidewalls with the "muscles" of the wheel arches, expressive stamping and cool LED lights, stretched out almost the entire width of the stern.
The overall length of the 4th generation Renault Megan is 4357 mm, the width is 1835 mm, and the height is 1447 mm. Compared to its predecessor, the car has become longer and wider by 64 mm and 27 mm, respectively, but at the same time it has decreased "in height" by 24 mm. The hatchback has a wheelbase length of 2669 mm (plus 27 mm), and the ground clearance is 150 mm.
The interior decoration of Renault Megane is executed in the spirit of the "older" models of the brand and is endowed with an attractive and solid look. Its distinctive feature is a 7- or 8.7-inch display, vertically located on an almost flat console, which controls multimedia functions, under which a compact air conditioning unit is “registered”.
A stylish steering wheel with control elements and a 7-inch screen that replaces classic instruments are in the direct control of the driver. True, the basic versions will have much simpler equipment.
With the change of generation, "Megan" received better finishing materials, among which you can find soft plastics, alcantara and even natural leather "Nappa". The hatchback interior is designed to accommodate the driver and four passengers, although people with weight and height above average will not be very comfortable in the back row.
When the backs of the "gallery" are raised, the luggage compartment of the 4th generation Renault Megane has a useful volume of 384 liters. In the underground space is reserved for a compact spare wheel and the necessary set of tools.
Specifications. For the French "golf hatchback", a power range of five engines is proposed, combined exclusively with a front-wheel drive transmission:
- The petrol section includes a 1.2-liter (1197 cubic centimeters) turbocharged four-cylinder Energy TCe engine, 16-valve configuration and direct injection, provided in two modifications:
- 100 horsepower at 4500 rpm and 175 Nm of peak thrust at 1500 rpm;
- 130 "horses" at 5500 rpm and 205 Nm at 200 rpm.
Gasoline engines interact with a 6-speed "mechanics", and in the 130-horsepower version - also with an optional 7-speed "robot".
- The first diesel unit is a 1.5-liter turbocharged inline turbocharged engine, DOHC timing belt with 16 valves and Common Rail injection, which is available in two boost levels:
- 90 "mares" at 4000 rpm and 220 Nm of rotational potential at 1750 rpm;
- 110 horsepower and 260 Nm of available thrust at identical revs.
Both options are combined with a "mechanic" for six gears, and "senior" - also with a "robot" that has a similar number of ranges.
- The second diesel is a 1.6-liter turbo engine with four cylinders, direct fuel supply and 16-valve timing, producing 130 "stallions" at 4000 rpm and 320 Nm of torque at 1750 rpm. An exclusively 6-speed "manual" transmission mates with it.
Depending on the modification, acceleration from the start to "hundreds" in a hatchback lasts 10-13.4 seconds, and the "maximum speed" varies from 174 to 198 km / h.
For gasoline cars, 5.3-5.4 liters of fuel in combined mode is enough, and for diesel cars - 3.3-4 liters.
The "fourth" Renault Megan is built on the modular platform CMF of the Renault-Nissan alliance, or to be more precise, on its simplified modification. The vehicle is equipped with McPherson-type independent suspension in the front axle structure and a semi-independent architecture with a torsion beam at the rear.
The rack and pinion steering is equipped with an electric power amplifier with speed-dependent characteristics. The hatchback's braking system is formed by ventilated discs at the front, disc devices at the rear and modern "assistants", including ABS with EBD, Brake Assist and ESP.
Options and prices. In France, the 4th generation Renault Megane (2016-2017) is sold in the Life, Zen, Business and Intens trim levels at a price of 19,200 euros (~ 1.21 million rubles at the current exchange rate). The basic version of the hatchback is: front and side airbags, air conditioning, two power windows, leather steering wheel, a multimedia center with a 4.2-inch screen, 16-inch steel wheels and some other equipment.
For the "maximum" version they ask for from 25,600 euros (~ 1.61 million rubles), and its features are: 17-inch alloy wheels, combined trim, an infotainment system with an 8.7-inch display, light and rain sensors, dual-zone " climate ”, rear view camera, lane tracking system and so on.
