Mitsubishi ASX is a front- or all-wheel drive crossover of a compact class, which combines an attractive design, a good level of comfort and safety, as well as a time-tested technical "filling" ... It is addressed primarily to city dwellers (and - regardless of gender and age) who want to get a small but practical car, because they prefer active pastime.

Despite the fact that the Mitsubishi ASX has been on the assembly line since 2010, in February 2019 the car once again ... did not change its generation, but only experienced a "facelift", appearing before the public during an online presentation. Well, already in March of the same year, the SUV celebrated its full-scale debut at the International Geneva Auto Show.

As a result of the modernization, the car was "refreshed" externally, having received a completely redrawn frontal part, and only slightly changed inside, while technically it remained the same.

After the update, Mitsubishi ASX acquired a kind of angular-square look, made in the current direction of the Japanese automaker, and began to look, if not prettier, then at least more brutal. And the credit for this belongs to the front end, "painted" in the style of Dynamic Shield - with aggressively frowned LED optics, an abundance of chrome elements and a powerful bumper.

On the side, the crossover boasts a balanced silhouette with expressive sidewalls and large cutouts of wheel arches, and at the rear - a toned look with stylish LED-lights and a "blown" bumper.

Size and weight

The 2020 Mitsubishi ASX measures 4365 mm, 1810 mm and 1640 mm in length, width and height, and its wheelbase extends to 2670 mm. Ground clearance for front-wheel drive versions is 195 mm, and for all-wheel drive - 215 mm.

When equipped, the five-door weighs 1365 to 1515 kg, depending on the modification.

Interior

As a result of the restyling, the interior of Mitsubishi ASX did not undergo significant visual changes, with the exception of a few moments - the diagonal of the media system screen increased to 8 inches, as a result of which the ventilation deflectors "moved" a little higher. In general, the compact SUV's interior is distinguished by an attractive and modern design, made in a minimalist style, as well as good quality materials and workmanship.

After the modernization, the cargo-passenger capabilities of the crossover did not receive any metamorphosis: the interior of the car has a five-seat layout with ergonomic front seats and a friendly rear sofa, and its trunk can hold from 384 to 1219 liters of luggage (depending on the position of the gallery).

Specifications

As before, the 2020 Mitsubishi ASX is offered on the Russian market with two naturally aspirated petrol "fours" equipped with distributed fuel injection, a 16-valve DOHC timing belt with a chain drive and variable valve timing:

  • By default, the five-door is equipped with a 1.6-liter engine that generates 117 horsepower at 6100 rpm and 154 Nm of peak thrust at 4000 rpm.
  • More powerful versions rely on a 2.0-liter unit that produces 150 hp. at 6000 rpm and 197 Nm of torque at 4200 rpm.

The 5-speed "mechanics" and drive wheels of the front axle work in the storage compartment with the "junior" motor, but the "senior" version is combined exclusively with a CVT variator and an all-wheel drive transmission, which has a multi-plate clutch in the rear axle drive.

Dynamics, speed and consumption

Acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h takes 11.4-11.7 seconds for the crossover, its “maximum speed” is 183-191 km / h, and “fuel appetite” varies from 6.1 to 7.7 liters for each “hundred” of run in mixed mode, depending on from version.

Design features

Structurally, the "three times updated" Mitsubishi ASX is completely identical to its predecessors - the GS bogie at the base, independent suspensions of both axles (front - MacPherson struts, rear - multi-link), rack and pinion steering gear with electric power steering, disc brakes on all wheels (on the front axle - ventilated).
