The five-door Opel Crossland is a subcompact SUV, "performing" in the same league as the "Mokka", but positioned as its more practical and less sporty counterpart. In addition, this is a purely “city dweller” - who does not have all-wheel drive, but will be able to attract buyers in need of a small car with an emotional design and good transformation capabilities, as well as “lure over” the former audience of “Meriva”.

The online presentation of the Opel Crossland X took place on January 18, 2017 - the "off-road vehicle", which became the first "product" of cooperation between General Motors and PSA, was based on the French modular "cart" EMP2, put on the "family" clothes of the German brand and "equipped "A bunch of modern" bells and whistles ".

In all its glory, this car appeared in front of the world community in February of the same year (at a special event in Berlin), and the following month made a full-scale debut at the stands of the Geneva Motor Show.

Three and a half years after the premiere - at the beginning of October 2020 - the SUV underwent a planned update, as a result of which it not only dropped the unnecessary "X" prefix in the name, but also acquired a new "face" (and, in general, slightly "refreshed" externally), received a slightly corrected interior and replenished its functionality with new options. The power range remained the same, however, it was not without technical improvements - the car was modernized with the steering shaft, and also replaced the shock absorbers and springs in the suspension.

The exterior of the "Crossland" is designed in the current Opel style - the SUV looks beautiful, fresh and emotional, and the seriousness of its appearance is given by a decent ground clearance and "off-road" accents like overlays made of unpainted plastic around the body.

The assertive front of the car is ennobled with frowning eyes-headlights with LED "stuffing", interconnected by a glossy Vizor panel, and a raised bumper with a full-fledged radiator grill, and the strong rear is decorated with "smart" LED lights and a large fifth door.

In profile, the five-door is perceived as a "typical" SUV due to the pronounced separate bonnet and energetic "folds" on the sidewalls, and the "floating" roof adds dynamism to it.

Size and weight

The dimensions of the Opel Crossland meet the requirements of the subcompact community: 4212 mm in length, 1605 mm in height and 1825 mm in width. The wheelbase is 2604 mm from the SUV, and its ground clearance is 200 mm.

When equipped, this "German" weighs from 1163 to 1319 kg (depending on the modification).

Interior

The corporate identity of the German brand instantly manifests itself inside the off-road vehicle: first of all, attention is drawn to the elegant center console decorated in the spirit of minimalism, on which the multimedia system screen with a diagonal of up to eight inches and an approximate microclimate unit are "registered".

The multifunctional steering wheel, which has a three-spoke design, and the "dressed up" instrument cluster with the main dials "sunk" in deep "wells" do not stand out from the general picture.

The front seats of the Opel Crossland are certified by the AGR (Association of Physicians and Therapists for Spine Health) - they are distinguished by a thoughtful profile with distinct sidewalls and wide adjustment possibilities.

Rear passengers in the SUV are promised not only a hospitable sofa, but also extra-class space (the "gallery" can move longitudinally in the range of 150 mm).

In the "stowed" state, the trunk of the "Crossland" holds from 410 liters of luggage. If you move the second row of seats all the way forward, then the volume of the "hold" increases to 520 liters, and if you equate it with the floor in three sections - then up to 1255 liters.

Specifications

Opel Crossland offers a wide range of power versions that meet the environmental standards "Euro-6":

  • The basic modification is a gasoline atmospheric "troika" with a working volume of 1.2 liters with distributed injection, 12-valve timing and adjustable valve timing, which produces 83 horsepower at 5750 rpm and 118 Nm of torque at 2750 rpm.
  • More efficient petrol versions contain under the hood a 1.2-liter three-cylinder turbocharged engine with a direct "power supply" system, 12 valves and variable valve timing technology, available in two levels of "pumping":
    • 110 h.p. at 5500 rpm and 205 Nm of peak thrust at 1500 rpm;
    • 130 h.p. at 5500 rpm and 230 Nm available potential at 1750 rpm.
  • Diesel crossover solutions are equipped with a 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine with a turbocharger, Common Rail battery injection and a 16-valve timing belt, which is announced in two power options:
    • 110 h.p. at 3500 rpm and 250 Nm of torque at 1750 rpm;
    • 120 h.p. at 3750 rpm and 300 Nm of peak thrust at 1750 rpm.

The basic gasoline engine is content with a 5-speed "mechanics", while everything else (except for the "top" diesel) relies on a 6-speed "manual" gearbox. A 6-band hydromechanical “automatic” is also installed on the car, but for the 130-horsepower petrol modification it is an option, and for the 120-horsepower diesel it is standard equipment.

The lack of all-wheel drive on the crossover is partially compensated by the optional IntelliGrip system - it allows you to change the algorithm of the traction control electronics (all five modes - Normal, ESP Off, Snow, Sand and Mud).

Dynamics, speed and consumption

The second "hundred" Opel Crossland exchanges after 9.1 - 14 seconds, and the maximum is able to develop 170 - 206 km / h.

Petrol modifications of the five-door consume 4.9 - 5.4 liters of fuel in combined mode, and diesel ones - 3.7 - 4.0 liters.

Design features

The subcompact SUV is based on the PSA PF1 front-wheel drive bogie, familiar from many Peugeot and Citroen cars (it was Opel that first used its shortened version for B + class cars).

The front wheels of the "German" are based on an independent suspension of the MacPherson type, and the rear wheels are based on a semi-independent system with an elastic beam (lateral stabilizers are present "in a circle").

The car has disc brakes on both axles (front - with ventilation) and a rack and pinion steering complex with an electric power steering.

In the Russian market, the 2021 Opel Crossland is offered only with a petrol 1.2-liter turbo engine with 110 hp. and a 6-band "automatic", but at once in four trim levels to choose from - Crossland, Edition, Elegance and Ultimate.
